  • Were the servants of the Levites.

    Ezra 8:20 Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.

  • Probably originated in the appointment of the Gibeonites.

    Joshua 9:27 And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation, and for the altar of the LORD, even unto this day, in the place which he should choose.

  • The remnant of the Canaanites appointed as, by Solomon.
